My favorite modern cyclist, Marco Pantani (January 13, 1970 – February 14, 2004), also known as “Il Pirata.” We had an exact replica of the bike he is riding in the photo hanging on the wall of the shop in Texas with a rose hanging below it. Twenty-thousand mourners attended his funeral. He died of acute cocaine poisoning.
